This concept refers to metal rings with a flange for fixing holes in curtains.
This accessory has been used for several centuries. Previously, sewing curtains with eyelets was carried out by professionals, and only theater curtains and bulky curtains in noble houses were attached with rings.

Typically, the color of eyelets for curtains matches them, or matches the tone of the curtains; in addition, they can be made in opposite colors, with interior decoration objects, or forming a general, individual style in the room.
In order to avoid difficulties in moving along the curtain tube, the size of the inner circumference of the eyelets must exceed the diameter of the curtain tube by at least 1.5 cm.
There are several options for hanging curtains on grommets:
- Directly onto the curtain tube; to do this, we insert it into the eyelets. It is considered one of the most common.
- Using additional mounting parts (cable, s-shaped hooks). They are threaded through eyelets and secured to the curtain.
- Directly to the wall. With the support of decorating hooks or other fasteners attached above the window opening, they hold the curtains on the grommets.
However, with this method the fabric will be fixed in one position.
The upper part of the curtain is attached with a special ribbon, which makes it more durable and does not cause sagging. In addition, it provides additional wear resistance in the area where the eyelets are inserted. The eyelet ribbon is inserted into the hem of the upper part of the curtain and is not visible when completed.

To obtain medium-sized waves, a distance of 18-20 cm is suitable, the width of the material must be 2 times higher than the width of the drapery. To obtain the resulting edges directed in one direction, apply the number of eyelets.
Calculation of the number of eyelets for curtains
The number of holes on the canvas should always be even. Calculations are made based on the width of the fabric, but not more than 20 cm (on average 18 cm). You need to retreat about 6 cm from the edge of the curtain to the first eyelet.
To know how to calculate the number of rings on curtains with eyelets, use the formula:
n1=(L-2a)/18+1, where n1 is the number of holes; L – web width; a – a segment from the edge of the curtain to the center of the first ring.
For example, a canvas 200 cm wide with a distance to the first hole of 6 cm from the side edge of the curtain will have the value n1= (200-2*6)/18+1=11.4 pcs.
