Manufacturing materials
You can fit a complex purple sofa into any interior style by choosing the right shade of the product or using the texture of the upholstery. In addition to the usual classic textile designs of jacquard, tapestry and velvet, furniture coated with leather and suede occupies a strong position. It is appropriate in pop art and eclectic style. Soft corduroy, flock or velor will add zest to the design in the Provence style.
Of course, each material has its own advantages and disadvantages. All of them are characterized by different operational properties. Most people strongly associate jacquard with expensive nineteenth-century furniture. It is distinguished by a special patterned weaving of threads, creating an exquisite design. Characteristic properties of the material:
- increased strength due to close weaving of threads;
- wear resistance: the fabric is durable, almost not subject to abrasion;
- durability due to a special structure that prevents threads from unraveling;
- low specific gravity;
- wide temperature range of use;
- hypoallergenic - natural raw materials are used to produce high-quality jacquard;
- retains the pattern and color for a long time.
However, along with the advantages, there are disadvantages that limit the range of application, leaving behind the material a touch of exclusivity, chic and wealth. Main disadvantages:
- high cost - the production of the material is complex, multi-stage, has a high percentage of defects, because the slightest violation of the weaving structure leads to distortion of the pattern;
- Delicacy in care - the fabric does not tolerate spinning well, as well as the effects of washing powders.
The tapestry is distinguished by its sophistication and durability. It has the same set of advantages as jacquard. Its disadvantage can be considered the limited style solutions using the material as upholstery for upholstered furniture.
Textile upholstery for sofas made of flock or velor is popular. They have become widespread due to a number of advantages:
- High strength characteristics, including tensile strength.
- Resistance to abrasion, rolling, mechanical wear.
- The moisture-repellent properties of flock increase the practicality of products made from it.
- Uniform and stable coloring. Fabrics retain color for a long time, do not fade, and do not spoil the appearance of contacting surfaces.
- Practicality in care and cleaning. It is enough to remove dirt with a damp cloth or napkin.
- Resistance to temperature fluctuations.
Among the weaknesses of the flock covering of the sofa are the following:
- Accumulates static electricity, attracts dust, reducing the hygiene of the product.
- Acetate and viscose upholstery wrinkles significantly.
- Sensitivity to alcohol, which damages the structure of the fibers, therefore cleaning with care products based on it is impossible.
The disadvantages of natural velor can be considered high cost and some difficulties in care. During operation, certain rules must be observed. The material must not be cleaned with products containing acetone.
Purple sofas made of high-quality leather are an indicator of not only high status, but also the originality of the owner. The popularity of this material is also due to its excellent performance characteristics:
- Hygiene. There is no accumulation of dust, dirt, or germs on the skin. It is enough to wipe the surface with a napkin to remove dirt.
- Hygroscopicity. This upholstery absorbs and releases moisture and does not interfere with air circulation, maintaining a positive microclimate inside the product.
- Durability. Leather dressing using new technologies provides excellent wear-resistant qualities.
- Practicality. The easiest option to clean is a leather sofa. With it you can forget about the labor-intensive washing of covers.
- Does not attract the attention of pets. Perhaps, due to the specific smell, the material produces a repulsive effect, and therefore leather furniture is not afraid of the claws and teeth of pets.

Among the imperfections of leather as an upholstery material, the most often called:
- Price. Not everyone can afford such a sofa in the interior of the living room and other rooms, which is due to the origin of the material, the difficulties of production and finishing.
- Sensitivity to heat. It tends to dry out, crack, and lose elasticity. As a result, it loses its attractive appearance.
- Exposure to ultraviolet light causes the surface to fade, dry out, and then crack. Therefore, you should avoid exposure to sunlight.
- Absorbing unpleasant odors.
- Some tannins used in processing can have negative effects on the body.
Much less often, leatherette is used as upholstery. Artificial material does not have high performance characteristics. This makes the sofa less durable and comfortable.

Popular color combinations
Almost all colors can be combined with purple, but there are several classic combinations that are most often used in interior design:
- Purple and white. This combination is distinguished by severity and solemnity, which is perhaps why it is so often found when decorating wedding banquets. In the interior, this successful combination is most often found in the minimalist style, when it is necessary to correctly place accents.
- Purple and black. An equally strict combination, but at the same time very emotional. In the interior, such a tandem looks mysterious and sublime.
- Purple and beige. This combination is the most classic and often found in the interior. Beige, in contrast to white, smoothes out severity and makes the room feel homely, and purple splashes in the form of upholstered furniture, for example, do not allow the eye to get bored in the created tenderness.
- Purple and green. This combination is suitable for more daring natures, but its natural originality does not irritate the eye, but, on the contrary, makes the interior complete and laconic. A green living room with a purple sofa will be a corner of calm and contemplation.
- Purple and yellow. This combination also occurs in nature, so it is not irritating. However, using such an alliance in the hall is extremely bold and carries its own difficulties. When decorating the main room in such a complex color, you need to make sure that the rest of the apartment supports such a bold design.
- Purple and orange. This bright and bold mixture of shades will win the hearts of the most creative people. The fire of orange and the cold of violet come into conflict, giving birth to an unprecedented and very attractive combination. Having decorated your living room in these shades, you will forever forget about tranquility, but fun and noisy parties are guaranteed.
- Purple and red. These two colors are the least compatible, and therefore such a tandem is almost never seen in interior design. However, if you choose shades of purple close to red and pink, it is quite possible to get an interesting effect and a cozy atmosphere.

One of the most feminine shades, lilac, harmonizes perfectly with both matching objects and contrasting decorative elements. A similar sofa in the living room interior goes well with white or lemon-colored pillows. In this case, a matching chair will be more than appropriate and compatible with lilac curtains.
The sensuality of the lilac color, embodied in the furnishings of the room, is offset by pinkish, silver shades of the walls. A good solution would be to include mother-of-pearl elements. In the interior of the living room, a lilac sofa can be emphasized favorably with the thick tone of a fading burgundy rose with decorative touches.
An excellent color combination is violet with gray, white and black. Rooms with a sofa of this shade acquire the energy of femininity. Lavender with warm tones of light wood is an excellent color scheme for the interior of a bedroom or children’s room.
A masculine “sound” of the interior can be achieved by combining purple with a shade of noble dark wood framed by metal composite components. A perfectly elegant combination with white. Purple looks good with turquoise, shades of young greenery, yellow and orange flowers.
Sofas of various shades of purple can be successfully included in any interior style, if you observe the compatibility of colors and composition. Complex, contradictory, this color will add a special atmosphere. Its energy will give a feeling of magic, mystery, and in the right environment will highlight the taste of the owner.
For many years, violet (purple) was considered the color of royalty. It is known that Queen Elizabeth I of England prohibited anyone other than members of the royal family from wearing purple clothing. In all likelihood, this was due to the fact that in those years, dyeing fabrics was labor-intensive and very expensive.
Today, purple fabric is affordable for people of any income, and everyone can decorate their home, for example, with a royal sofa with velvet upholstery. Such a piece of furniture immediately attracts attention, and therefore it should harmoniously complement the interior.
Choose a purple sofa for a living room in a classic or modern style. It will be a worthy decoration for a room in Provence and ethno style. You can create a monochrome room by using different shades of purple. But do not forget about the rule of three colors in the interior. It is better to make purple an accent color, and if you want to combine it with yellow, be sure to add items in neutral colors (white, gray, beige). And if you choose bright purple, then yellow should be muted.
The combination of purple (lilac, lavender) with white is called classic, and is used mainly for a living room in the Provence or minimalist style. Purple and brown are often combined to create a retro-style living room. But if plush fabric and antique wallpaper are replaced with leather and brickwork, you get the loft style beloved by many.
Purple can also be combined with gray. But there is a great risk of making the interior uncomfortable, as if “damp”, unsuitable for living. In this case, it is recommended to correctly combine different shades of these colors. For example, silver and purple, smoky and eggplant (or fig), ash and violet-pink, steel and mallow.
As you can see, purple is a complex color. A purple sofa can become a central detail in the interior of the living room and inspire you to new achievements or plunge you into depression. This shade must be used very carefully. If you are not sure that you can cope with this task on your own, experienced designers are always ready to help you.

The classic version is white and lilac. This is how you can decorate a bedroom - white walls and furniture, and the curtains with a bedspread on the bed - with a lilac tint.
You can complement this minimalist style with a mirror in a silver frame and white lampshades with silver. This way we will get a very airy and calm interior. This is perfect for a young girl.
Another option for the bedroom is lilac and beige. The shades will be more saturated, which will give the bedroom a bold and even somewhat extravagant look.
