Storage systems for the kitchen: the best models and features of their use in interior design (185 photos)

When everything is at hand

It is advisable to arrange the main storage place in the kitchen work area. In this case, the ideal arrangement of furniture is lined up on the same line, starting from right to left, stove - countertop - sink.

In a small room, it is advisable to install drawers up to the ceiling. Another advantage is that you can not only organize optimal storage in the kitchen, but also prevent dust from accumulating on surfaces.

Space for lids

Often, it is the lids that take away important space in the kitchen: they either ineffectively take up a whole drawer, or they do not allow us to store pots one inside the other. Try organizing a place for lids on your kitchen drawer door. A small rail, a towel rack, or even Velcro hooks are suitable for this.

You can also store the covers compactly inside the box on magazine stands.

Sort by category

Storage locations in the kitchen correspond to the order in which utensils and products are used. It is advisable to sort everything into categories. This is a basic principle that professional chefs adhere to.

All items of the same type must be kept in one place, which helps you quickly find what you need for cooking or serving. For example, all cutting boards should be placed vertically in a specially prepared box.

The same can be done with plastic containers, frying pans, and pot lids. The same rule applies to storing pots in the kitchen. There is one very valuable life hack: you can fold them one into another like a nesting doll, and place the lids separately, in a niche or box nearby.

Is it worth keeping food in the kitchen?

Of course, all kinds of jars with cereals, pasta and spices should always be on hand. They should be ranked and kept in special sections or containers. Be sure to pee or label each jar.

But is it advisable to store vegetables in the kitchen? If there are few of them, since supplies are replenished regularly, it is worth organizing places for them. Each type of food, whether root vegetable or fruit, should be placed in a separate container. This is true when the room is large and there are spacious drawers for placing baskets of vegetables and fruits.

Interesting options for storing dishes: 65 photo ideas

Regardless of the large or small size of the kitchen, its owner often faces the question: where to store all the dishes and household utensils? After all, a kitchen is an infinite number of items: cereals, knives, cutlery, dishes, seasonings, vegetables - and among all these things you need to put things in order so that they are always at hand.

While I was looking for information, I couldn’t find anything, but since the topic was different, I didn’t combine it in one post.

So, now there will be a lot of photos of compact storage of food, dishes, things and other things. The photos were taken from the Internet and do not have a single source, I processed them for easier viewing).

You will see in this publication:

  1. Pull-out drawer systems.
  2. Suspended module holders.
  3. Sliding designs for kitchen cabinets.
  4. Shelving.
  5. And much more for storing dishes and other kitchen items

Get ready to sigh and dream, although I tried to take into account our kitchen size.

Plate storage and more!

We all, of course, go to the cabinet above the sink, with a built-in drying rack for plates and cups. Yes - it's convenient. But for those plates that we use every day, and there are also “holiday dishes” that can be hidden in drawers - and even special compartments inside the drawers, or limiters, should be provided in advance (so that the dishes do not hit each other when opened abruptly) .

In the photo below you see an interesting design solution - a LIMITER for dishes. The bottom of such a drawer is dotted with rows of holes-holes + round wooden sticks with a short pin at the end (to fit into these holes) are attached to the box. We arrange the dishes and stick our limiter sticks in the right places - very cleverly thought out.

And here are other interesting solutions for storing plates - an open rack or shelves, but here I am confused by the thought of dust and not only about it, experienced housewives know about the thin, greasy film that can form during such storage.

Open shelves with bright dishes will cheer you up all day :)

Making the most of corner cabinets!

If you have a corner kitchen, then you probably already realized that the space in the very corner is quite difficult to use. Special pull-out racks and corner drawers of a special design will help solve this problem.

But this is a real problem... personally, I definitely have one, namely, storing pots, since there are always so many of them that they don’t fit anywhere (and if you buy a few, there are always not enough of them). I found some pan storage ideas.

The retractable platform is very convenient - you pull it out, grab what you need and push it in. Another good thing is that you yourself (when designing kitchen furniture) can provide for the height of such a platform so that it is level with the height of the pots, so that the extra space at the top does not go to waste.

And let's not forget about the frying pans :)

So cute when they hang on the wall, but for a kitchen with a modern design it's not always appropriate. And then the design idea suggests hiding them, for example, in a corner cabinet... with built-in holders for pans - hang it up and good, there’s still room at the bottom for pans.

Lids... why not? I haven't got one yet.

How and where to store glasses? Either they stand on a shelf or we make hanging holders for glasses that we attach under kitchen cabinets. You can buy them in a store - or you can make a structure yourself from padded slats - as we see in the photo below (regular slats with screws) or buy a shelf with a more complex structure.

Hanging narrow shelves

Narrow shelves are ideal for storing spices and bottles of oils. To prevent items on the shelves from creating visual noise and clutter, use identical vessels; one of the best options is glass jars and bottles of the same size. I don’t use this solution - I like to hide everything from view :)

Don't forget to add internal elements.

Additional space in cabinets can be achieved by adding hanging baskets, glass racks and other functional little things that can be found in a kitchenware store. I use these hanging shelves both in the kitchen and in the dressing room! I highly recommend paying attention to them. Attached to the shelf and...

Or this option - add additional shelves and racks inside the cabinets.

To ensure that pans and pots do not stand on top of each other, and you do not have to go through them all every time to get the lowest one, use special racks or equip cabinets with additional shelves.

We make the most of cabinet space. Hooks and fasteners on cabinet doors, containers and mini rods... these can all help with storage. Pay attention to the storage in these photos, I personally took note of the suspension of the sprayers), and I’ve been using the baskets for a long time - I’m happy!

And the dream of every housewife is such dressing rooms for storing all the pots, molds, ladles, and... I’m sure you understand me.

And so too... just convenient and beautiful :)

I almost forgot! Adding roof rails!

The functionality of the kitchen can be easily expanded with the help of roof rails. There are many different modules available for them, hooks, special jars for spices and much more... I bought these for myself, but have not installed them yet :)

That's it... it's hard to stop, because there's so much left to do!

I hope you found it interesting and the information was useful.:) I would be glad if someone is already using some of the ideas presented.:)

Sincerely, Irina

Kitchen storage helpers

Designers recommend equipping the kitchen with specialized sections, trays, niches, drawers, which are planned and built in at the stage of ordering the set. It’s a good idea to buy a sofa for the kitchen with a storage box or built-in swing-and-pull systems for utensils.

It is advisable to give preference to drawer dividers. These are excellent helpers that allow you to properly store cooking items, lids for jars and bottles, and all kinds of small things.

Baking and Cooking Area: Storage Options

In the cooking and baking area, the most important are the stove and oven. Microwave ovens and coffee machines, which can be used on countertops, but also in closed storage areas, are considered an addition. Cabinets can be equipped with pull-out shelves.

The possibilities for creating a functional and at the same time beautiful kitchen in a room, both large and small, are almost endless. Ergonomics and clever storage solutions ensure that not only is cooking in the kitchen a pleasure, but also spending time in it with family or friends.

How to store knives

They should not be kept in cutlery drawers to avoid rapid dulling and deformation. It is worth purchasing a specialized wooden stand with slots designed to accommodate knives of any size.

You can attach a special magnetic strip to the apron area. The blades will “stick” to it. Moreover, this way they will be protected from rust and deformation. By the way, you can make a wall-mounted knife holder with your own hands. To do this, you need to make several holes in a wooden plank and glue magnets into them.

How to use corner areas under and above the sink

It is advisable to use this place to place a trash can, niches for separate collection of solid waste, detergents, and cleaning equipment - brushes, rags. Many manufacturers produce special pull-out sections for corner spaces under the sink and hanging structures above it.

It is worth purchasing a metalized carousel box with pull-out shelves. By the way, it is advisable to keep the trash can in a retractable niche, which is very convenient.

Storage area in food preparation and washing area

Food storage systems should be located not only next to the refrigerator, but also in food preparation and washing areas. Dishes are usually prepared to the right or left of the sink, as well as in the sink itself, because water is needed for cooking. Food handling produces the most waste, so it's worth choosing the right trash can along with containers for separating. It is worth using solutions such as sets of baskets inserted directly into the drawer. When designing your sink area, be sure to store essential cleaning supplies under the sink.

The optimal place for a dishwasher is next to the sink and trash can, as well as near cabinets where cutlery, plates, cups and glasses are stored. This arrangement will allow you to clean dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, and then quickly place them in cabinets after washing. The ideal systems for storing small dishes are cutlery storage systems. In this case, the plates can be placed in special places in large boxes so that, if necessary, they can be moved to any other place.

Form is more important than content

Experts advise using square, rather than round, jars for cereals, pasta, and spices. It’s easier to line them up in a row, saving a lot of usable space. Containers can be glass, tin or plastic, but the main thing is the shape of a square or rectangle.

By the way, this advice is relevant for all storage systems without exception. Square baskets and drawers fit better together, which allows for more efficient placement of utensils and small items.

For washing

It is worth purchasing a special rubberized plastic or silicone organizer for the sink, a very flexible organizer that allows you to hold sponges, graters for cleaning pots and pans, and brushes. With such a system, you can free up space around the sink and protect surfaces from moisture penetration.

How else can you use space in closets?

It is not necessary to line up baskets and drawers on the shelves, or to stack numerous cutting boards, lids or plastic containers vertically. Designers advise attaching small hooks to the top of the cabinet. You can hang cups on them.

If you install hooks in the back wall, you can easily hang ladle, ladles, or colander on them. It is worth installing a special system for storing glasses and glasses in the closet.

This is interesting! Ideas for storing boards

There are quite original ideas for storing cutting boards in the kitchen: see if you like some of them and decide to use this method:

  • Office organizer. Vertical is more suitable: it takes up less space, and such storage is preferable for boards.
  • Place dividers inside the kitchen drawer to create a full-fledged shelf for storing cutting boards.
  • External storage can be done by hanging the boards on rails mounted on the wall, cabinet doors, or any suitable surfaces. You can also attach hooks to the side surface of the headset.
  • Instead of a railing, use a regular strong branch! This eco-element can be successfully integrated into the design, and can also be changed at will, and it does not require investment.
  • A convenient solution would be shelves on the inside surface of the cabinet door.

The listed methods not only organize the kitchen space and make it less cluttered - they all allow the boards to dry effectively after use.

And most importantly: organize everything in your kitchen so that you enjoy being there, cooking and being inspired to create new culinary masterpieces!
