Furniture in the bedroom should be as convenient, comfortable and practical as possible. Ultra-modern bed models never cease to amaze with their original shapes and designs, but the classics are always in demand and remain in fashion. For example, almost anyone who is at least a little familiar with the basics of carpentry can create a bed with drawers with their own hands.
This model is considered the most popular. It includes not only a bed, but also a fairly large and convenient box for bedding and other things. Such furniture is most often placed in a children's bedroom or in rooms with a small area.

Tool
At the second stage, they choose what material the joinery product will be made from. The necessary tools and available carpentry materials are purchased.
The tools you will need to create a bed with drawers at home are:
- roulette;
- circular and miter saw;
- drill;
- jigsaw;
- screwdriver and screws;
- sandpaper or sanding machine with abrasive discs;
- antiseptic;
- varnish, primer and brushes.

The stain will highlight the texture of the wood, the varnish will smooth the surface and add shine. You can also use special paint that imitates various types of wood. This method will not only decorate the frame, but will also give it a more impressive look. Materials
Experts recommend that beginners work with laminated chipboard. This material is more pliable and it is not difficult to make from it. The laminated board has its own thickness and density, color and surface structure. Here the choice always remains individual.
MDF is used to make boxes. This material is suitable for partial use in furniture, but not for the bed frame itself. A heavier and more durable material is furniture board.
Some people prefer to work with natural slabs and boards. Creating a bed from boards has its own specifics. It is important to choose the right section of beams. In order for the structure to last longer, it is best to work with edged boards of coniferous trees.
With properly organized work, a bed made of chipboard can be created in 1-2 days, but working with wood can take much more time and effort.
Making a headboard
It wasn't a bad day, I decided to finish the headboard for the bed. To begin with, I unscrewed the board from the back and made (cut off) another one of the same kind (1). Then I decided to screw on these boards from the back side (2). These scraps were secured with self-tapping screws.
Now I cover it with stain, the color is called “Larch”, the color is very beautiful, reminiscent of lemon, but not irritating. The stain was purchased from Leroy Merlin.

The bed is finished, maybe I will make another one like this, or maybe more than one. The budget for a bed is difficult to calculate, I think no more than 500 rubles (screws, punched corners, stain), unless of course you count the mattress from Ikea. That's all, good luck with your DIY home crafts.
Step-by-step instructions for assembling a bed with drawers
The most important stage in the work is sawing the material into structural parts. For example, if you work with a material such as MDF, then initially all the elements are marked on the surface of the sheet.
Cutting and trimming MDF elements
After applying the markings to the sheet, it is recommended to take control measurements again. It is best to cut using a jigsaw.
All edges of the cut material are sealed with furniture edge tape. The work must be done carefully. After the glue has hardened, remove any excess with a knife.
Housing installation
Using a drill, holes for screws are made in parts such as the headboard, middle, back and side panels. The structure is assembled together using a socket wrench.
Attach the side parts to the corners of the headboard and backrest. Small bars or planks are often used for this. Attach the front and back parts to the slats and screw in the screws.
If the model includes legs, then at this stage they can be attached. Then you should install the sheet under the mattress on dowels.
In order to make a bed with drawers, you first need to assemble the main structure, and the pull-out parts are made separately.
Assembly and installation of boxes
In order to assemble a box under the bed with your own hands, you need to prepare the following structural elements:
- two side walls;
- façade;
- rear end;
- bottom of the box.
You can make several small containers (40 cm or 50 cm wide) instead of one large box. This option will be more durable. The load on the drawer guide wheel supports will be less.
In order for the design of a bed with drawers to be durable, it is worth selectively and carefully choosing the material. Furniture makers recommend using fiberboard and high-quality wheel supports for the bottom of retractable containers.
In the front and rear parts, in the side elements, holes for dowels are made using a drill. The latter are placed on wood glue. A groove is made at the bottom of all parts for installing the bottom panel. It is installed with glue. A handle is attached to the front part. The wheel and its mechanism are mounted on the bottom of the side walls.

Laying the mattress
In order to prevent the mattress from sliding on the furniture, you can use a special Velcro tape. It is perfect for these purposes.
Laying the mattress is carried out as follows:
- You need to attach pieces of tape to the mattress cover with the hooks facing up.
- Hem the tape on the mattress itself with the opposite side.
- The number of ribbons is determined by the width of the textile product and the bed itself. Many people prefer to sew the tape horizontally.
Even a beginner in carpentry can assemble bedroom furniture on their own. The most important thing in this work is the sequence of actions, competent execution of the drawings and measurements themselves. Otherwise, the work does not cause difficulties.
The final stage is decoration
The facade of the final product is often decorated with false doors - an overhead element that is part of the decoration, onto which handles are attached. Do not use mirrors in such beds under any circumstances, as they are not designed for such loads and may soon crack.
Even the simplest folding bed design can fit into any room interior.
This will also affect the weight of the structure being lifted, which may affect the durability of the mechanism. Be sure to install the legs into the pre-drilled holes and magnetic latches. Now the work is completed, and the new decoration of your interior is completely ready for your relaxation.

Double bed, its dimensions, features when choosing
My family lived in a one-room apartment for some time; we had a small child. Of course, like most people, we rested on the sofa, as a result, sometimes in the morning we couldn’t turn our necks, and with regular full use, our sofa quickly lost its appearance (thanks to my daughter!).
At that moment we simply dreamed of our own bed - comfortable, with a good mattress, with storage space. I even visualized how our bedroom should be furnished, what kind of furniture it would be. Well, the long-awaited moment has come when we have our own bedroom. I had already forgotten about those fantasies, but the questions about creating coziness and comfort remained. First of all, we started measuring the room and trying to figure out what size we wanted our sleeping place to be. It turned out that the Soviet 1.40 m is not enough, and 1.8 m does not fit into the dimensions. So, this issue has been resolved - we order a double bed measuring 1.6 * 2.0 m.
Always measure the length of the bed as follows: the height of the tallest family member plus 20 centimeters, at least.
We managed this perfectly, because... We are high average in height!
If space allows, then you can, of course, make the dimensions of the bed larger, but the question of whether you can find a mattress and bed linen without pre-ordering will remain open.
And in a normal family, no matter how big the bed is, it will still be cramped for mom: both the husband and children will snuggle up!
Also, for a comfortable sleep, it is better to choose a bed with slats or an orthopedic base. They allow air to circulate through the mattress, creating natural ventilation and allowing the mattress to last longer.
Well, another important question: what will your bed be made of? My friend, for example, considers everything except the massif to be lower caste. And a bed for two hundred thousand made of solid oak is the norm for her. It’s good when it’s like this, but there are also those who, even if they have the means, prefer other materials. So, there are many fans of wrought iron furniture. These options are also not standard, but look very elegant and self-sufficient.
Forged bed
Many people now choose modern models of double beds with a soft headboard and covered with eco-leather or velor. These are also very beautiful options and there is no doubt about the service life here either.

You can make with your own hands not only a beautiful and reliable double bed, but also a mattress. The quality of your sleep and your well-being throughout the day depend on it. These days, good mattresses cost at least $200. If you produce it yourself, the costs will be much lower. Particular attention should be paid to the filler. Latex and single-layer foam rubber are not suitable, because... Even with a thickness of 20 cm, such a filler collapses quite quickly. Therefore, the padding must be at least two-layer.
Cut layers 12.5 cm thick. They can have different densities. Typically, a top layer with a density of 45 kg/m3 is used, and for the bottom layer approximately 35 kg/m3 will be sufficient. If you cannot find blanks of exactly this density, you can lower it in a very simple way. It will be enough to burn several symmetrical holes in the filler. Holes can be burned using a tin can with sharp edges, previously heated over a fire. Foam rubber can be of any size. Cover the finished layers of filling with a mattress pad of a suitable size, which you can buy in a store or make yourself.
