Production of extruded bricks and blocks

DIY stone crusher

The processing and mining industries work with stones and hard rocks that are difficult to crush. In this case, a special crusher is required that can quickly and efficiently complete all the assigned work. But if we are talking about crushing stone at home in order to equip a private enterprise, then a device with low power will do, and if you wish, you can do it yourself.

The mini stone crusher is practical, compact in size and has convenient functional features for use in accordance with the established standards.

Types of stone crushers

To properly establish the production process, you need to choose the right type of crusher, since there are different types with characteristic technical and functional features:

  1. Hammer crusher for stone . A hammer crusher is a special device that breaks stone into the desired shape and structure. The hammer blows are cyclical, so the stone breaks into the desired pieces, eliminating any inaccuracies and inconveniences. The absence of a large amount of waste is considered an important advantage.
  2. Cone crusher. This device allows you to easily and simply cope with the crushing of stone material, while providing the appropriate convenience. The system consists of two cones, between which there is space for moving stones for the purpose of crushing them.
  3. Impact crusher. The device is ideal for crushing hard and soft rocks. Crushing is carried out due to the rotor in the system, which is characterized by high power, reliability, quality and, most importantly, technical serviceability. The absence of inaccuracies reduces waste and material discards.
  4. Roll crusher. The device is equipped with special shafts that rotate among themselves to crush stone and hard rocks. The devices rotate towards each other, due to which crushing is carried out evenly and efficiently, eliminating any technical inaccuracies.
  5. Lye crusher. The design of the device contains rectangular slabs through which the stone passes to crush and obtain the desired shape and appearance. The working space is wedge-shaped for convenient movement of the stone in order to obtain the desired structure.

If you need a small stone crusher , then the hammer system is ideal, as it combines practicality and ease of use.

Power, thanks to which solid rock is processed, is also considered an important property. It provides practicality and high productivity, which will be quite enough for a small home workshop for stone processing.

How to make a crusher yourself?

To produce a stone crusher, you don’t need anything special or specific, since it will be enough to know certain rules and recommendations.

  1. A homemade crushing apparatus must be designed, so drawings that describe all the main technical and structural features of the unit.
  2. You need to purchase a motor, thanks to which you can power the device and cope with crushing the stone in order to obtain its homogeneous mass.
  3. A container where all crushed stone will be collected to prevent loss of material.
  4. Also an important device in the design will be special knives for cutting material.
  5. Wrenches and screwdrivers for assembling the structure for its reliable operation.

how to make a high-quality crushing device for stone, but if you carefully read the rules and technical features of the process, you can achieve the task at the optimal level.

Why is it better to make a crusher yourself than to purchase it for home production? First of all, this is an excellent opportunity to save money, since there is no need to invest large sums of money in purchasing an imported or even domestic unit.

Taking into account all the rules and recommendations when creating a stone crusher is a guarantee of its practical and reliable use.

Advantages and disadvantages of impact crushers

Impact crushers have proven their effectiveness in a variety of applications. They are distinguished by simplicity of design, reliability in operation, mobility due to low weight, relatively low price, and high maintainability.

Disadvantages include poor controllability of the size of fractions when crushing ore materials and problems that arise when crushing hard ore rocks. The beaters are subjected to heavy loads and wear out; they are replaced in accordance with the technological regulations. Reflective plates also wear out quite quickly. These works relate to the current repair of crushers. Replacing the rotor is a complex repair operation and is carried out at the manufacturing plants. It refers to a major overhaul, the cost of which is comparable to the cost of a new impact crusher.

Impact crushers

Impact crusher is a mechanical crushing device used for crushing pieces, grains and particles of mineral raw materials and similar materials, by crushing the rock by blows of hammers rigidly mounted on a rapidly rotating rotor, as well as by breaking the pieces by hitting the plates of the crusher body.

Impact crushers are similar in design to hammer crushers, but the advantage of impact crushers is the free exit of raw materials from the grinding chamber. As a result, we do not have to worry about the moisture content of the raw materials. This advantage allows the crushers to be used in open spaces.

Impact crusher mechanism

The impact crusher consists of the following main elements:

  • a rotor with rigidly fixed impact elements, hence the name impact crusher;
  • crusher body lined with replaceable armor plates;
  • crusher support frame;
  • bearing units;
  • drive unit, which includes a V-belt drive and an electric motor.

Operating principle of an impact crusher

The source material, entering the grinding zone (grinding chamber), hits the rotating rotor. This is how primary grinding occurs, after which the material is thrown away and hits the armor of the crusher body.

This process occurs an indefinite number of times, as a result of which the material acquires a given size. The size of the material depends on the gap between the rotor impact elements and the bumpers on the housing.

Stone crusher

refers to special equipment used to process non-ore and ore materials used in the construction and industrial industries. The wide range of crushing equipment on the market makes it clear that even the hardest material can be processed, and in large volumes! Using a stone crusher, you can quickly process hard and soft, brittle and plastic materials, for example: dolomite, granite, marble, limestone, gabbro-diabbaz, etc.

The size of the fraction that will be at the exit depends on the type of installed sieve, as well as the set exit slot. How many crushing cycles a stone or other material will go through depends on its physical and mechanical properties and the type of crusher used. At the first stage of crushing, jaw crushers are usually used, at the second, cone crushers, and at the final stage of processing, cone, centrifugal or rotary crushers are used. The choice depends on the tasks, volume and complexity of the work. Rotary crushers are used for crushing materials whose strength is less than 90 MPa. If the strength of the material exceeds this indicator, then centrifugal or cone crushers are used.

Features and classification of crushers

There are five types of crushing equipment on the market today, which differ in their features and advantages, as well as the shape of the installed crushing body. Main types of crushers:

The presented types differ in the method of crushing, namely:

  • medium crushing (from 25 to 100mm),
  • coarse crushing (from 100 to 300mm),
  • fine crushing (from 5 to 25mm).

Production of extruded bricks and blocks

Punching (extrusion) is a method of producing bricks and blocks by pressing a mass through part of the press - an extrusion grid.

The composition of the mixtures that can be used to produce bricks and blocks by extrusion are the same as with the direct pressing method, but it is better to work them out practically taking into account the properties of local natural materials.

The size of crushed stone or fiber additives can only affect the quality of the cut when cutting the finished product to size. Therefore, it is desirable that the largest fractions be less than 8 mm.

In the production of hollow extruded bricks, sifting (up to 5 mm in size) can be used instead of fine crushed stone.

When pressing (extrusion), a direct compression press is used as a feeder. With his punch, he takes the prepared mixture from the hopper and pushes it through the extrusion grid formed by the extruder body on the outside and void formers inside.

When passing through the void former, the mixture is compacted along the cross-section and extruded in the form of a beam with a cross-section of 120×250 mm (for bricks) or 200×200 mm (for blocks) onto the finished product table.

The separation of a piece of timber of the required dimensions (for bricks - 90 mm, and for blocks - 400 mm) is carried out with a cutting device. The dimensions of the cut parts can be changed within any desired limits. The finer the source materials (crushed stone, organic additives), the smoother the cut edge.

When used as locks when laying tongue-and-groove ridge formers, it is possible to obtain blocks that can be used for masonry without the use of mortars, the so-called “dry” masonry, or with the help of “adhesives” of a creamy state, which are applied with a spatula in a layer 1-2 mm thick or by dipping. As such a “glue”, a solution with a ratio of one part cement to two parts sand is used.

Since the main dimensions of extruded blocks are strictly maintained, the method of laying tongue-and-groove blocks can be quickly mastered by any non-specialist mason, since the correct positioning of the blocks relative to each other is facilitated by the tongue-and-groove lock. An example of such dry masonry is shown in the figure:

Another advantage of the press is the ability to use it as a mixer grinder. Since the original clay may have large pieces, they can be broken into smaller pieces, however, to obtain a homogeneous composition of the mixture, it must be kneaded (like flour dough). The same effect can be achieved if you put a grate at the exit of the extruder, an 8 mm sheet with holes with a diameter of 8 mm across the entire cross-section (like a meat grinder) and pass pieces of clay through it (and you can immediately introduce additives: sand, clay).

How to crush stones into flour (or melt) at home

Due to this, the flakier grains experience impacts in different directions, break across and take on the appearance of cubes. In addition, when passing through a small gap between the cones, the needle-shaped stones collide with each other and collapse faster.

A cone crusher for crushed stone is considered one of the most reliable; it is no more difficult to operate than a jaw crusher and is just as easily adjusted to different sizes of the input and output product. These are rather bulky units aimed at producing medium-sized cube-shaped gravel.

A special feature of such crushers is the consistent fractional composition of the finished mass. Capable of crushing crushed stone to the smallest fractions. Re-grinding occurs when the fragments fly to the walls of the crusher and break there on the lining plates. But with this method of rock destruction, it is impossible to control the size of the gravel at the outlet, so after crushing the entire mass is sent to dispersing screens.

Brick crusher: types, how to make your own

An industrial brick crusher crushes rock, which is then used in construction work. You can buy such a unit or make it yourself using improvised materials. There are many variations of machines, of different types, power, functionality, operating principles. Because of this, the price of such devices and their service life vary. For home crushing, it doesn’t make sense to buy a ready-made production unit; it’s easier to make it yourself or rent it.

Brick crusher: types and essence of work

A crusher is a unit for crushing rocks, including bricks. Used in stone mining and processing. The principle of operation is the breakdown of rocks and building products into fractions. Modernization and improvement of this machine allows you to crush any stones, bricks and use them in the future as secondary raw materials. With its help, construction waste is disposed of or given a second life during a new construction project.

Types of brick crushers

According to the degree of grinding into fractions, the crusher is:

  • small - 5-25 mm;
  • average - 26-100 mm;
  • large - 101-300 mm.

Behind the working mechanism:

The device can be of the click type.

  • conical;
  • slit;
  • hammer;
  • rotary;
  • roller;
  • rod.

According to application, the following types of devices are distinguished:

  • for stone;
  • for crushing wood.

In addition to the main classifications of brick crushers, each of them also has products for specific targeted work. They crush soft or hard rocks (chalk, coal, crushed stone). Hard and abrasive material is crushed by crushing, and brittle and small material is crushed by splitting.

Jaw crushers operate using 2 sharp metal plates - jaws. They put pressure on the material, causing it to bend, collapse, and crumble. Available for various fractions and applicable to all rocks. Cone mechanisms allow for dry grinding and are suitable for large debris. The crushing device uses 2 cones installed opposite each other. This crusher has a long service life and is more compact than other types. Roller crushers are based on the action of 2 cylindrical shafts, which rotate towards each other at the same speed. The name of the hammer mechanism comes from the principle of operation - crushing bricks is carried out with hammers.

Ready crushers

Industrial devices are expensive and are not used at home.
Various trading companies produce ready-made machines and units for crushing bricks. They can be purchased on the websites of manufacturers, hardware stores or at fixed points of sale. They are produced both in mini-versions and in full-fledged installation complexes. Contains a passport and a certificate for the product, instructions. Ready-made crushing devices are produced by national and foreign manufacturers. They have different functionality and characteristics, due to which the price varies. They are installed by enterprises that constantly work with crushing bricks or other rock materials. The price of such mechanisms is high, their service life is long and they are generally not used in home production.

How to make your own?

Often, a homemade crusher is made according to the principle of an industrial unit and based on the information from the technical documentation that is attached to it. For production, improvised means are used. To make one of the options for a brick crusher, take a small container into which sharp blades are mounted. Using the internal shaft, the rotation of the electric motor (power 1 kW) is generated and the crushing process occurs. To keep the design simple, one movable jaw is made, and the other is fixed, from a cast iron sheet. By changing the inclination of the installed sheet, the fraction changes. The shaft is installed so that its rotation is directed in the direction of filling the substance. Homemade crushers are rarely used for crushing bricks.

types, features, how to make it yourself

Brick crusher is widely used in the rock mining and processing industry. The brick crusher begins its history in the distant eighteenth century and, having gone through a huge path of change, improvement, and modernization, is used to this day. The principle of operation of the crusher is quite simple, but at the same time you will have to tinker with it a little.

Main types of crushers

brick crusher

There are many types of brick crushers on today’s construction market, and they can be distinguished from each other by the degree of grinding of the material:

  • Fine crusher - from five to twenty-five millimeters;
  • Medium crusher – from twenty-five to one hundred millimeters;
  • Coarse crusher – from one hundred to three hundred millimeters.

Crushers can also be distinguished by their crushing mechanism:

  1. Cone mechanism;
  2. Jaw mechanism;
  3. Hammer mechanism;
  4. Rotary mechanism;
  5. Roller mechanism;
  6. Rod mechanism.

Types of crushers according to use:

  • Wood crusher;
  • Stone crusher.

It is important to know: each of the subtypes of crushers has several of its own models, which are designed for specific work.

jaw crusher

In jaw crushers, natural material is crushed by two sharp metal plates called jaws (they got their name because of their shape). The material is crushed in the following way: under the pressure of these cheeks, the material bends, collapses and crumbles. This crusher is ideal for any rock if the strength of the incoming pieces does not exceed one and a half thousand millimeters. Jaw crushers are available in all classes – large, medium and small.

For coarser and dryer crushing of material, it is best to use cone crushers. The crusher itself consists of two large cones, which are located opposite each other and when the crusher starts and when moving, they destroy the material. One of the main advantages of this crusher is that it takes up much less space than, for example, a hammer crusher, and the operation process is simpler and longer. Such grinders are often used in construction work and in metallurgical plants, as well as in road construction.

DIY brick crusher

DIY brick crusher

It is not difficult to find out how the crusher is made and what it consists of, since all the necessary information is written in the documentation supplied with the device, which means that it will not be difficult for a skilled person to assemble the crusher with his own hands.

In your everyday life and household, a variety of crushers are widely used, which you can easily make yourself from available materials. In its simplest form, a homemade crusher consists of a small container inside with sharp blades installed one after the other. The internal shaft rotates a one-kilowatt electric motor, which allows you to gradually adjust the rotation speed.

Basically, such devices are used for chopping grass, large vegetables, for making feed for farm animals, and so on. In general, as you already understood, the crusher that you made with your own hands can be used for different purposes.

Conclusion

As has already become clear, the crusher has many options and methods of application (not only in industry, but also in agriculture), and making a crusher yourself will not be a problem.
